Program purpose

Peanut is a retrofitted 90s city transit bus that hosts community-led gatherings and celebrations in neighborhoods and rural areas. This collaborative, mobile art space seeks to: facilitate grassroots relationship-building, celebrate the voices of often-overlooked communities, and reduce barriers to accessing innovative arts programming in Austin and Central Texas.

Peanut relies on hyper-local and collaborative partnerships within the communities we serve. MoHA forms working groups of local community leaders for each collaboration. Communities guide the planning of art experiences that are the most meaningful to them.

Through Peanut, MoHA seeks to highlight the unique, vibrant, and innovative creative ideas and cultural movements already taking place inside underserved communities.
