You’re invited to an Art Party hosted by the Museum of Human Achievement and Peanut the bus!
When: Friday, August 23, 2024 6-9PM
Where: Gemstone Palace - 1101 Bunton Creek Rd, Kyle, TX 78640
The Museum of Human Achievement (MoHA) is bringing a community art party to Kyle to mark the end of summer break! Our extra special guest, “Peanut”, is a retrofitted 90s city bus that brings accessible activations like film screenings, art installations and more. This time, Peanut will transform into an arcade bus featuring some exciting Indie Games. In addition we will be hosting local teen musicians and artists from Kyle for musical performances, along with the Austin-based dance group ARCOS.
Ether Dust is a highly mobile version of ARCOS' interactive “infinity loop” performance-installation. It uses a single mobile phone on a tripod to broadcast slightly delayed video of the participants' movements onto a large inflatable screen, with feedback creating visual layers that recede in time. This delay loop mechanism allows people to observe, move, or dance with their past (and future) selves. The whole system is powered by a solar generator.
Enjoy our interactive photo booth, live performances, raffle prizes, video games, karaoke and create some art to take home!
This event has been organized in collaboration with local organizations KATS (Kyle Arts & Technology Society), Forever 15 Project, and Hays Latinos United. Our gathering will include health and wellness resources such as information on the dangers of fentanyl and overdose prevention, as well as arts and crafts activities using sustainable materials. Thank you to the Museum of Human Achievement and the Texas Commission for the Arts for supporting this project.
