Mailchimp Tags Overview

Purpose:

A walkthrough of Mailchimp + tags

Overview:

Tag: Mailchimp’s tags are what staff can use to determine what emails the audience gets when they subscribe.

Group: Audience members use groups in Mailchimp, which allows them to self-select what kinds of emails they want to receive.

Segment: Segments are ways that the staff can combine groups + tags to make a mailing list.

Global Tags:

  1. Community

    1. Organizations or individuals who make up the community of MoHA, who have presented, sponsored, or been involved in some way

  2. Public

    1. People who have purchased tickets before, haven’t been an exhibiting artist, opted into receiving emails, responded to open calls, indicated volunteer interest, or haven’t been an exhibiting artist

    2. People who have inquired, purchased a ticket, or come to something, but don’t have studio space

  3. Donor

    1. People who have donated money or sponsored MoHA

  4. Admin

    1. People in leadership, people who have volunteered, contractors

  5. Artist

    1. Individuals who have participated in programs. Past or current homepage artists, past or present mall vendors.

Segment:

Creating a segment will allow you to create a group to get a specific email — global tags are also split up into smaller groups. For example Public - Games Y’all Attendee would email just people who have attended a Games Y’all in the past.

Create Tag:

If a tag is created in mail chimp be sure to go the Mailchimp Tags base in Airtable to add it so MoHA can keep track of new tags created.
