Location: The Museum of Human Achievement, 3600 Lyons Road, Austin, TX 78702

Education Level: Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience

Experience Level: Managerial

The Museum of Human Achievement (MoHA) is seeking a collaborative, highly organized, and mission-driven Programs Manager to coordinate and promote the wide range of public programs, performances, workshops, and rentals that take place at MoHA. This full-time role plays an essential part in supporting our programs, staff, and community.

The Programs Manager will lead MoHA’s event coordination processes for internal (staff-driven) and external (community organizer-driven) programs/events, manage pre-production, support earned revenue through rentals, and help maintain clear communication across staff, organizers, artists, and partners. This role will also deliver external communications materials and oversee the media archive. The Programs Manager reports to the Program Director and works with the Events and Communications teams.

Position Focus

Strengthen MoHA’s programs, partnerships, presence, and sustainability through thoughtful, organized, and community-centered event management and communications.

The ideal candidate has experience in event production, scheduling, contractor coordination, working with artists and community organizers, copywriting/editing, and email and social media marketing. Prior experience in all job duties is a plus; however, we are willing to provide training and support where needed.

Hiring Details

We are looking for a candidate in Austin ready for immediate start who is able to commute to MoHA. The schedule is Tues-Sat or Mon-Fri with occasional evening/weekend hours during events. During your first two months (aka provisional period) we expect regular, on-site hours. Once established in the role, some flexible work location and hours may be determined with your supervisor, with expected availability for on-site meetings and events.

Shared office space will be provided at MoHA. Having your own laptop is nice but not necessary (we have computers on site). Some local travel for meetings and events may be required.

We highly encourage Black, Indigenous, Latine and POC applicants and those with diverse gender and sexual identities—including those who may come from non-traditional employment backgrounds. We welcome any questions about this position from potential applicants before or during the application process. Contact us at info@themuseumofhumanachievement.com.
