The Weelaunee Defense Society of Austin is the Austin chapter of a decentralized network of organizations that work to support the Defend Atlanta Forest movement, also know as the Stop Cop City movement. The Defend Atlanta Forest movement is a struggle to preserve the tree canopy of Atlanta, GA and to stop the militarization of the Atlanta police force. This movement has persevered for over 2 years in the face of extreme government repression and police violence. Proceeds from this film screening will go to supporting the movement and we hope to connect with folks that would like to learn more about the Defend Atlanta Forest movement. We will be screening the film "Machines in Flames". The screening will be at 8:30pm on September 7th, come make friends and enjoy film!

Film synopsis:

In 1980s Toulouse, an elusive group began bombing computer companies. ‘CLODO’ disappeared after three years, without ever being caught or ever to be heard of again. Two film makers launch an investigation into CLODO, looking for answers, motivations and identities, but are soon frustrated by a collective that struck in the dead of night, leaving in their tracks only ashes and the sporadic line of cryptic graffiti. The film combines archival traces, a viral desktop choreography, and late-night video recordings of CLODO’s targets into a meditation on computation, destruction, and the lure of archives.
