Every first Saturday we bring you...everything we can! All in one place, all at one time. Free for members, a sliding scale donation of $1-$10 for non-members helps us keep it all happening (no one turned away for lack of funds). Become a member for as low as $1/month here.

This project is supported in part by the City of Austin Economic Development Department and the Texas Commission on the Arts.

This month is themed around rest, recovery, and repair.

MoHA will feature:

Rest Day Buffet

A very chill expo of recharging and connecting, from creatives in our community. Artwork, demos, performance art, discussion groups, and other forms of sharing.

Member Mingling

May’s member activity presents an opportunity for MoHA members to deepen their relationships with the space, the artwork, and the community.

  • An insider’s tour of the space, complete with MoHA lore.
  • AZA (Ask Zac Anything): All your burning MoHA questions, answered.
  • Member Meet & Greet: Facilitated connections with other MoHA community members
  • Show & Tell: Inspired by featured installation we recover (amen, amen, amen)

And more!

Our friends will feature:

we recover (amen, amen, amen)

An LED tube installation and audio on healing by Betelhem Makonnen.

Home Economics: Junkyard Hospital

Grab a patient from the junkyard (an object in need of repair from the Home Economics supply area) and, with the help of tools and adhesives, give them another chance at life!

(Re)covering in Movement

A selection of experimental videos from Ethiopia’s Addis Video Art Festival (AVAF), curated by artist, curator, and educator Betelhem Makonnen. This project brings together video artists with a shared inquiry: How do we endure loss and transformation, and find grounding amid chaos?

Cage Match Project, Round XXVI: Cruces/Crossings - Opening Reception

The opening reception for Cage Match Project’s Round 26 exhibition "Cruces/Crossings" by Rachel Salcido, Fabiana Muñoz, and Julio Martinez will take place May 2nd from 6-9pm.

The artists will cover the cage’s exterior using handmade paper embedded with tomatillo leaves. A continuous line tracing the U.S.–Mexico border will encircle its surface, mapped through the leaves in the pulp and reinforced with tomatillo woodcut prints.
