This month's artist-in-residence, Devin Alejandro-Wilder, will connect the Homepage website and a physical site in East Austin, colloquially known as Red Bluff/La Loma, through media interventions including QR codes, field recordings, text, and site-specific video performance. The project is an unfolding experiment in de-centering human experience, considering our non-human collaborations (with land, plants, and the internet), and untangling ideas about relationships across species and across spaces. Follow along at welcometomyhomepage.net!
Devin Alejandro-Wilder (they/them) is a latinx visual artist who moves across new media, performance, and lens-based practices to haunt, inquire, investigate, and confront the beliefs and systems we exist entangled within. Deaf, queer, and non-binary, their work explores themes orbiting around in/visibility, “performance”, collaboration, and the false binary between care/harm. As a studio member at the Museum of Human Achievement, they also are a participant in several artist-run projects: The Revolution School: Operation Scrooge and the League of Superheroes (Los Angeles), ISYSM (TX), and Unpaved Paradise Drive-In (TX) as well as founding the virtual/IRL collaborative free skool initiative, Free Skool Now.
