During her residency at MoHA, Fabiola Menchelli has been experimenting creating lumen prints under the Austin sun. Taking the tarot card of The Hermit as the central point of inspiration, her geometrical abstractions unfold its symbolism. It is said that the Hermit holds in his lamp the light that Prometheus stole from the Olympian Gods. The lamp represents the individual insight of the mystic, a golden flame that dispels chaos and darkness. The Hermit is surrounded by its own shadow, illuminated by his own light, he reminds us that life is a process not a problem, Tao is a journey not a goal. 

To create these images she takes silver gelatin paper and exposes it under the sun. Masking the paper and using multiple exposures to create the different shades of color. The color of the prints is a product of the process, this is what the paper turns into when exposed to the sun. However there is a light that emanates from this set of colors that relates to the sun, the small light of a candle and the inspiration that comes from fire. 

Durante su residencia en MoHA, Fabiola Menchelli ha estado experimentando con impresiones de lumen bajo el sol de Austin. Tomando la carta del tarot de El Ermitaño como punto de inspiración, sus abstracciones geométricas despliegan el simbolismo del tarot. Se dice que el Ermitaño sostiene en su lámpara la luz que Prometeo robó a los Dioses del Olimpo. La lámpara representa la percepción individual del místico, una llama dorada que disipa el caos y la oscuridad. El Ermitaño, rodeado por su propia sombra, iluminado por su propia luz, nos recuerda que la vida es un proceso no un problema, el Tao es un viaje no una meta.

Para crear estas imágenes, Menchelli toma papel de gelatina de plata y lo expone al sol. Enmascarando el papel fotosensible y usando múltiples exposiciones para crear los diferentes tonos de color. El color de las impresiones es producto del proceso, esto es en lo que se convierte el papel cuando se expone al sol. Sin embargo, hay una luz que emana de este conjunto de colores que se relaciona con el sol, la pequeña luz de una vela y la inspiración que proviene del fuego.
