About

The ghosts are moving tonight. Restless, hungry. There will be drinks, ghosts, and perhaps a few murders… You’re all invited to a party… a haunted house party. Can you survive an evening in House on Haunted Hill?

Immersive 4DX screenings are becoming ever more popular as a novel film watching experience. Modern technology has taken this experience out of theme parks and put them in individual theaters only recently, but the concept of immersive, gimmicky film experiences have existed since the late 1950’s. Considered the master of the theatrical gimmick, director William Castle crafted a unique experience for each of his movies. He issued life insurance policies before screenings, had fright breaks in the middle of films with an offer to refund the ticket, and rigged theater seats up with airplane motor parts to buzz audience members when a monster ‘escapes’ into the theater.

‘House on Haunted Hill’ (1959) was one of William Castle’s first attempts at employing one of his gimmick ideas when it was originally released in the theater. Join us for a special screening on November 1st with an homage to how this film was originally viewed by audiences 65 years ago, plus a few more fun surprises.

Millionaire Frederick Loren, played by b-horror legend Vincent Price, has invited an assortment of down-and-out strangers to an overnight party at a notorious haunted house. Locked in until dawn, he entices his guests with the promise to pay them each $10,000 if they can survive the night. Finding themselves trapped with ghosts, the party becomes increasingly anxious and distrustful of one another in this black and white horror classic.
