Ambassador of the long-eared bat, will go to Austin, Texas to scream and fly with the world's largest urban bat colony!

Linh Le will undertake a 1-month residency in Austin, Texas as part of the CopenhAustin residency initiative. As part of the residency period, Linh Le will host an open studio of their practice as part of the Fusebox Festival. Linh Le invites anyone interested to exchange knowledge and to participate in exploring variations of screams and flying, inspired by the sound and movement patterns of the bat species.

Open studio: April 13 & 14 from 2 pm - 4.30 pm at Fusebox Festival.

As an ambassador of the long-eared bat, Linh Le has promised herself to follow obligations as being in solidarity with bats worldwide, playing with variations of screams, staying in the dark throughout regular nocturnal excursions, inviting others into the sensuality and philosophy of the bat species and sharing methods and knowledge about the work of species ambassadors.

During the residency, Linh Le will make a scream choreography and make wings of white / reflective material to be used in a communal ritual where we pay tribute to the sensuality and philosophy of the bat species.

Together, we fly and scream for the survival of bat species in our time of biodiversity crisis and sixth mass extinction.

Linh will look for places with echoes and / or places high above the ground with a wide view of the city. As angels / bats / threatened species / lost souls / guardians / spirits, Linh together with others will stand high above the ground - on buildings - or other places - with distance to each other - and scream loudly to make everyone listen to the survival of bat species and other nocturnal species who are threatened by the increased light pollution.

Linh Le is also looking for people to connect with and is passionate about building bridges between the art community, the nature / environment community and the activist community and combining these forces to create social change. In solidarity and respect for life, we need to insist on a liveable planet where all humans and other species are not only surviving but living and thriving.
