You’re receiving this message because a grant for musicians and live music opens up next week and I thought you’d be interested and eligible to apply for it.

The funding is through the City of Austin and the awards are $5k or $10k to support live music. The money can be used for public performances, recordings, or other expenses toward supporting musicians/live music. To be eligible for funding you must have proof you’ve performed or promoted music for two years or more, or have at least 6 released recordings or music videos. Drag performers and DJs are eligible as long as they fit the criteria. Here is the full program description.

Listen, grant applications mostly suck and are intimidating, if you’re receiving this I think you should apply and this money is absolutely for you, we’re here to help you try to get it! Below you’ll find a schedule for 4 hangouts at MoHA to help with applications. These hangouts are free and we’re going to break up the application into four parts and have people around to help. You can come to one or all of them. Please limit this invitation to yourself and up to one other friend who might be interested in applying.

At each hangout, someone from MoHA will talk a little bit about a section and then we’ll listen to music and work on the application together and there will be people and peers around to help and answer questions 1:1. We’ve found it easier and more fun doing things together with community support, and sharing work and resources is cool.

Through Lyft we have a limited amount of ride credits to offer for anyone who would benefit from that. If you have access to a laptop or computer, please bring it. We also have a handful of computers available at MoHA as well as internet access. We’ll order pizza or some fun snacks as well as have some beverages available. We can share resources from each hangout even if you can’t make it in human form.

The schedule is as follows:

Sat - 4/22/23 - 2pm - 5pm
Sat - 4/29/23 - 2pm - 5pm
Sat - 5/6/23 - 2pm - 5pm
Fri - 5/12/23 - 5:30pm - 8:30pm

The content of each week will be dependent on interest and if participants have the capacity to come to one or multiple sessions.

MoHA is located at: 3600 Lyons Rd. On the gravel parking lot side of the Canopy complex. Look for the bus! Please RSVP here if you’re interested.

Thanks!
