"There There" is an immersive three-screen installation experience adapted and expanded from Andrew Bujalski's 2022 movie of the same name. Across a series of interconnected "duet" scenes on themes of trust and belief, the audience is invited to stand literally in the space between characters, to witness the stitching together of their performances, and to examine the distance we ourselves traverse with every leap of faith in another person...
The installation will run on a loop from 4pm - 10pm during open hours. The piece has no start time or end time, guests are invited to enter and exit the space at will.
Join director Andrew Bujalski and Austin Film Society's Lead Programmer Lars Nilsen for a live Q&A on March 1st at 7:30pm, outdoors at the Museum of Human Achievement. Installation will run indoors simultaneously, open to attendees from 4-10pm--before, during, and after the Q&A.
Onscreen(s) are a brilliant and eccentric array of performers: Lili Taylor, Jason Schwartzman, Molly Gordon, Lennie James, Avi Nash, Annie La Ganga, Roy Nathanson, and Jon Natchez.
Andrew Bujalski has written and directed seven feature films, including Funny Ha Ha, Computer Chess, and Support the Girls. There There is his first installation piece. He lives in Austin.
Presented by The Museum of Human Achievement and Fusebox. Sponsored by Austin Film Society and Rusha and Co with support from Scott Sloan.
The Museum of Human Achievement (MoHA) is a community-driven non-profit organization in Austin, TX grounded in affordability, inclusivity and access for artists. MoHA’s vision is for an empowered, resilient creative community where each member has the resources to foster well being, prosperity, and a self-determined future.
