NonBinary Square Dancing!
Hello my fellow steers, queers, and dance enthusiast. You may have noticed that I have been slowly getting less Cunty and more Cuntry lately. I’m not gonna fight it. It’s both natural and strange. After a few YouTube tutorials and test classes I think my new square dance obsession could become the next dance craze bb! Unfortunately, it has been impossible to find a square dance caller that uses non binary vocabulary. The best offer I have is “bears and gazelles.” The argument is always about being able to dance with other callers, blah blah blah. It’s fine. I just have to learn the calls myself and modify the dances and calls to fit our community. An order too tall for many, but not for me! Modifications are MY FAVORITE THING!
I have hired a beginner square dance caller for for a 6 week workshop. Each meeting is an hour and a half starting at 6:45pm. This teacher (Dan McDonald) does seem LGBT friendly, but I do believe this will be a learning curve for all of us.
Here are the dates: Thursdays Jan 11, 25, Feb 1 & 8 and Tuesdays Feb 13, 20, 27.
