Beginning March 27th, The Museum of Human Achievement will be hosting a series of adventures curated by Bradford Kinney into the wonderland of cartoon psychedelia. Where cameras inevitably tie creators somewhat to "reality," the media of animation allowed these creators to gloriously cut the umbilical cord of actuality, crafting their dream world from stem to stern, and peopling them with charmingly beautiful impossibilities. | |||

Our first night will focus on the early history of psychedelic animation, starting in the 1930s with the bizarre jazz and dance-fueled creations of Max Fleischer, and culminating in a viewing of Rene LaLoux's 1973 masterpiece, The Fantastic Planet (complete with its psych-rock opus of a soundtrack booming from our house PA). Psychedelic toy store, demonstrations and optional free play time will be provided by Terra Toys and facilitated by Billy Zimmerman. Movie-going snacks and refreshments will be available.
