Steph Granillo (she/her) is the Austin-based artist and improvisational quilter behind Thread and Foil. All of her quilts are created with the goal of being sustainable; her most commonly used textiles include clothing and retired household linens that are stained or damaged in a way that would otherwise lead them to a landfill. She finds inspiration in playful color palettes, bringing new life to discarded textiles, and in rethinking what a quilt can be. When she is not quilting, Steph can be found playing with fused glass, making waffles, and trying to identify all the birds that visit her garden. | Steph Granillo (she/her) is the Austin-based artist and improvisational quilter behind Thread and Foil. To celebrate our collaboration with The Mall, fiber artist Steph Granillo is going to show you how to quilt.
Tickets for this workshop are $10 and every cent will benefit community initiatives we care about.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THIS WORKSHOP
Do you have tote bags and t-shirts lying around? Bring new life to these items while learning how to quilt and applique with Steph.
In this workshop, you will learn the basics of hand-quilting, and you will use these skills to update old items with playful patchwork.
Here’s what you need to bring:
- ✰ Items from your home and closet that you’d like to refresh
- ✰ Yourself! Steph will also have extra tote bags and t-shirts for participants to use. All other materials are provided, and no previous sewing or quilting knowledge is needed to join!
